Summary of Production Custodian

This position is responsible for various custodial duties within the production area to ensure the highest level of cleanliness is achieved.

Role and Responsibilities of Production Custodian

Daily Tasks of Production Custodian include:

  • Check and fill production supplies: paper towels, hand soap, hand sanitizer, latex gloves, hairnet/beard covers, cloth towels and tray liners.
  • Check and fill chemical jugs in dispenser units.
  • Re-stock retail labels and tape.
  • Complete all associated paperwork legibly and completely.
  • Empty Cryovac waste collectors during production break times.
  • Maintain bag and film usage log.
  • Clean and sanitize floor drains.
  • Empty all production area trash cans and replace liners.
  • Dispose of trash and cardboard in outside receptacles.
  • Empty the dirty towel tubs.
  • Fill the 4 mop tubs (1-Brie, 1-Hand Wrap if room is used, 2-Cryovac Room).
  • Clean product carts as they are available
  • Sweep floors in the 'U' corridor.
  • Scrub production room floors with floor scrubber.
  • Sweep production floors and perform general cleaning in assigned areas throughout the day.

Weekly/Monthly Tasks of a Production Custodian:

  • Weekly: empty and refill sanitizer spray bottles, clean all double doors, clean all windows in production area, mop production office, clean and sanitize floor drains, clean air return ducts in production rooms, wash back dock area, wash production area trash cans and cardboard bins.
  • Weekly: clean and organize janitor's closet: wash and sanitize mop buckets, clean sink, re-stock chemicals and supplies, sweep and mop.
  • Clean and sanitize floor drains.
  • Clean air return ducts in production rooms (every 2 weeks).
  • Sweep and empty trash in production offices (2x week).
  • Wash back dock area (monthly).
  • Wash production area trash cans and cardboard bins (monthly).

  • All other duties as assigned

Additional Duties and Responsibilities of a Production Custodian

  • Manage a variety of shifting deadlines through multi-tasking and turning projects/initiatives to on-time completions
  • Be an advocate for food safety and quality.
  • Contribute and drive initiatives that improve company profitability

Qualifications and Education Requirements of a Production Custodian

  • High School Diploma required, technical or vocational training preferred. 
  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand instructions given in English.
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and materials
  • Ability to work 8-12 hour shifts or other work schedules as determined by business need, including overtime as required.
